Beneath The Genocide

Beneath The Genocide was a metalcore band from Rialto, CA originally created in 2007 by Chris and Mike Marron. Inspired by bands like <a href="spotify:artist:41btkKEfOGIHsd7WNahMCi" data-name="Bleeding Through">Bleeding Through</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6YXarbjg36ODFPez0PnOlD" data-name="At The Gates">At The Gates</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7auS6jwIq4Hxle1Wm5BjL5" data-name="The Funeral Pyre">The Funeral Pyre</a>... they made heavy use of electronic piano, mixing symphonic melodies with crushing blast beats and breakdowns. The debut EP “Salvation” was released in 2008, and recorded in Riverside, CA with producer Dave Swanson and engineer Ralph Love (<a href="spotify:artist:4nqY8hkQNkHaDq4fdVxdYr" data-name="Carnifex">Carnifex</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6HZr7Fs2VfV1PYHIwo8Ylc" data-name="Suicide Silence">Suicide Silence</a>) by the temporary lineup of guitarist Chris Marron, drummer Brahim Gousse, and guitarist/bassist Cesar Ortega. Former members, keyboardist Jon Secor and vocalist Kyle Cesari, later rejoined the band and the EP was completed. Guitarist Juan Vargas and bassist Justin Ravare rounded out the lineup later that year, and the band played numerous gigs over the next several months in support of Salvation. Gousse announced he would leave the band in 2009 to focus on his other project, When Only Darkness Remains. Former Sunday Night Shootout drummer Matt Brown joined shortly after. The sophomore album “Tides” was released in 2009. The eight song LP was recorded in just three days, again with producer Dave Swanson and engineer Ralph Love. After the release of “Tides”, the band continued back to performing throughout the next year, eventually coming to an end with the group’s unexpected separation in 2010. In their short span, the group gained a considerable following, and bred several alternative musical projects after their disbandment.
