Operating between the European electronic dance music tradition—minimal techno, French house—and American indie, Benoit and Sergio have always existed in a sonically liminal space. Their debut album, "Lost Decade," explores themes of displacement, isolation, and fugitive time within a context of gently shifting kaleidoscopic synth work.
By looking to capture hypnotic, lightning-in-a-bottle, incantatory loops unfolding gently over time, the pair have managed to create a record that connects emotion with elements of immersive repetition they have mastered in the dance world. These somber, more reflective tones and lyrics capture a sense of alienation, tentativeness, and distance that can arise between friends and partners.
