BEONY is a 26 year old New Zealand born, South-Korean artist currently residing in Auckland, beginning his career in the small town of Dunedin, New Zealand. The name was created from a fusion of his Korean & English names: Be-, from his Korean name ‘BeomSuk / 범석’, -on from his surname ‘Yoon / 윤’ and -y from his nickname ‘Joey’. Much of his music is also inclusive of his ethnic language which is a reminder for self to not forget your roots.
Initially having a background in classical music with a Diploma in Violin, it was the world of hip hop and r&b which first attracted him to start making music. Blending his knowledge of classical music while also tuning into a wide variety of genres has aided his journey into becoming the artist and person he is today.
