Berdosa

In 2017, three guys from the Malaysian peninsular plugged into a few fuzz pedals, tuned their guitars one and half steps down, collected the heaviest snare and cymbals they could find and inadvertently created a gateway to the spectral plane of Nusantara Doom Metal. They later called themselves Berdosa. The band consists of Afiq Iskandar on vocals and guitar, Ezekiel Mavani on bass and Ravi Shankar on Drums.

2018 marks the year of Berdosa's debut EP, “Smells Like Tree Spirit”. The EP’s tongue in cheek title is one of the many hidden expressions of what the music ultimately represents to the band and its followers, which is to hold up every preconceived notion through a provocative looking-glass. The band’s live shows broke away from the convention of just plugging & playing, the natural evolution led to an evocative communion between Berdosa and their self-named followers: Pendosas.

Berdoa will mark the next chapter in Berdosa’s discography. It is the spiritual continuation of where Smells Like Tree Spirit left, tying in a darker atmosphere with deeper roots to their regional heritage.
