German alternative pop singer/songwriter and guitarist Bernd Begemann was born in 1963 and adopted six months later by the Begemann family. By his teens he had fallen under the urgent pull of punk rock. Moving to Hamburg at the age of 20, Begemann joined Die Antwort, a band that released its debut album, 1987, in 1988.
