Beside is a metal-hardcore band from Bandung, Indonesia, formed by Achmad Rustandi (drums), Rizky Farhan Maulana (vocals), Muhammad Firdaus Merandi (guitar), and Roy Nat Siregar (guitar). Emerging in 1997, Beside was among the pioneers of the metal-hardcore scene in Indonesia—a genre still rare at the time.
Their first single, "Wasted Youth," was released in 1998 as part of the AQUARIUS Independent Rebel compilation, marking the beginning of their journey in Indonesia’s independent music scene.
Hailing from Ujungberung—home to one of the largest metal communities in the country, known as Ujungberung Rebel—Beside stood out by constantly experimenting with their sound and lineup. Through these changes, they maintained a unique presence within their scene.
Influenced by both local communities and global metal acts, Beside's music has evolved into a deeply personal and powerful expression. Their sound resonates strongly with fans, contributing significantly to the growth of the Indonesian metal movement.
