There’s something instantly captivating about the music of Beth Torrance. She skilfully simmers our most deep and untameable feelings down to their purest form, offering them to the world as songs that are poetic, potent, and true. Her debut EP, Tiny Flowers, is a deeply personal collection of songs that explores the dynamic interplay of heartache and connection to the environment one inhabits.

The visual aspect of Tiny Flowers EP is as evocative as the music itself. Renowned artist Chris Riddell created illustrations for each track, transporting the EP into a fairytale realm that reflects an electric duality of whimsy and darkness.

The EP offers focus track ‘Ankle Socks’, featuring Los Angeles-based artist Rigby. Making its debut at #20 on the Hot Aotearoa Singles Chart, ‘Ankle Socks’ explores themes of nostalgia and the passage of time. Its languid, sun-dazed flavour captures the poignancy of revisiting a familiar place or encountering a triggering scent. The surreal, dreamy music video at once amplifies the song’s expansive nature, reminiscent of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.

Tiny Flowers is out now via Aotearoa New Zealand indie label Particle Recordings.
