[Better Be] is the moniker of Nashville & Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Brandon Stanley. Finding inspiration from different sides of the musical spectrum, Stanley’s sound combines the songwriter influence of Music Row with the breezy wild & free summer heart of the West Coast, reminiscent of Ed Sheeran’s guitar-led melodies, Charlie Puth’s pop sensibilities, and the contemporary production of Mike Posner.
After spending 10 years as a touring musician and Music Row songsmith—supporting acts such as Matt Nathanson and Better Than Ezra — Brandon Stanley shifts his focus back to his solo alias as [Better Be]. Describing the journey back to his own artist career, Stanley explains, “I was torn between Tennessee's songwriter world, with my heart always being in California. I was very confused about how to merge the worlds. But one day, while driving around my adopted hometown of Houston, I passed by a graffiti painted sign that simply said ‘Be Someone.’ Maybe it was the AC hitting just right in the middle of a hot July day, or a moment of clarity, but I decided that day to combine both of my passions: being a career songwriter and the free-spirited artist that I always wanted to be.”
