Using analog synthesizers, San Francisco's Robert Yang produces retro-futuristic electronic music under the name Bézier. His work brings together a multitude of influences, from Hi-NRG and Italo-disco to new wave and synth punk. Yang began DJ'ing under the name Robot Hustle in 2003 and started building his home recording studio in 2005. He joined Honey Soundsystem in 2007, and the crew launched a successful weekly event series in 2008, in addition to frequent gigs around the world. Following a limited cassette release in 2012, Bézier's debut vinyl release was the 2013 EP Ensconced, issued by Dark Entries, the label run by fellow Honey Soundsystem member Josh Cheon. This was followed in 2015 by Telomeres (also on Dark Entries) and Mina (issued by the collective's HNYTRX label), both of which were mixed by Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto). The year 2016 brought another HNYTRX release (Cosmologist) as well as a split EP with Fort Romeau on his Cin Cin label, and Dark Entries released Primes in 2017. The label also released Yang's debut album, Parler Musique, in 2018. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
