Big Ever is the new project of Sydney born, Berlin based music producer Thomas McAlister. Over 2016-19 Big Ever released a string of sold out and now hard to find 12”s under the name Cop Envy; through Black Opal, Templar Sound, Cry Baby Records, Decisions and Hypercolour.
Big Ever’s music is a taut assemblage of UK club rhythms, tightly woven bass lines, minimal synth experiments and deft percussion—seamlessly combined with a unique club-ready sensibility. His first record as Big Ever, titled Otto, will be released via Anthony Naples and Jenny Slattery’s Incienso label in 2021. While retaining the clinical accuracy, relentlessly deconstructed funk and speaker testing bass notes for which Cop Envy was known, Big Ever’s new material takes a step towards a more colourful and percussive sound dotted with elegaich pad sequences, re-contextualised vocals and nimble drum workouts.
