Bigamy Sisters formed in 2001; a morphing of Austin, TX brit-popsters The Bigamy Sisters (1996-2000) into a new line-up. Dropping the “The” reflected some band-member changes and a new start—though the band retained a fondness for 60s psyche, pop, and rock.
The band reformed with Robert Fisher on drums, Chris Hughes on bass, Robert Pierson on rhythm guitar, and Alex Thompson on lead guitar. This would be the line-up for their only published album, 2002's blistering Movies About Gladiators. Other players on the record: Derrick Fore (Farrago Ensemble), Catherine Grim, Valerie Klatt, David Morrison (Landlocked), Laura K Phelan, Jane Rundquist, and James Welch IV (Orange Mothers).
In 2003, David Morrison joined the band on bass. Soon after, the band recorded: music for 300 Plays About Vladimir Putin (2004), a live soundtrack for a play, and the studio album, Tigris Embassy (2005). With the exception of a few songs, neither has been released.
