Having spent years in dive bars and living out of motel rooms, Billy is an anti-hero who writes about life and death and about good and evil. Moody, distorted, and distinct, Billy delivers a fresh take on classic Americana and Western ethos. He is the ultimate narrator, caught between the past and the present, deeply introspective, and telling his story with a voice reminiscent of <a href="spotify:artist:6YWdHD3R863Apw1hkx3BwC" data-name="Dan Auerbach">Dan Auerbach</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6kACVPfCOnqzgfEF5ryl0x" data-name="Johnny Cash">Johnny Cash</a>.
Debut EP, “Canyon Fever,” is produced by Jason Couse and Wes Marskell (<a href="spotify:artist:1kmnMzV27S3bXALqYnoGwH" data-name="The Darcys">The Darcys</a>) mixed by Matty Green (<a href="spotify:artist:2S5hlvw4CMtMGswFtfdK15" data-name="Royal Blood">Royal Blood</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3jOstUTkEu2JkjvRdBA5Gu" data-name="Weezer">Weezer</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5CPxrqCStgt6AfI4fLiedH" data-name="The Glorious Sons">The Glorious Sons</a>) and Taylor Kernohan (<a href="spotify:artist:2gWNtwxO5mOAmjE8EWw2qt" data-name="USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker)">USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker)</a>), and mastered by Elisa Pangsaeng (<a href="spotify:artist:53RsXctnNmj9oKXvcbvzI2" data-name="Alexisonfire">Alexisonfire</a>). From desert rock anthems like “Even if it Kills Me” and “Line in the Dirt,” to the introspective folksiness of “Seeing Ghosts,” Billy is a “Killers-esque blast of Americana-tinged arena rock with rattlesnake-esque tambourine and Heartland rock pianos” (Exclaim!).
Atop the cinematic production, Billy’s lyrics find him let down by his faith and turned away by anyone he’s ever loved. To Billy, the spirit of the West and all that it implies about masculinity and freedom is just dollar store snake oil. With no time for fairytales, Billy is trying to outrun the devil he’s become.
