Billy Bruce has been playing music in the Southeastern United States since 1970.
He was born in Miami and grew up in Jacksonville, FL, where he began playing drums during that famous British Invasion. A family move to Valdosta, Georgia put him in touch with many local musicians who were swimming in the rock, jazz and country sounds of the early 70s.
His creative urges inspired him to expand his skills to keyboards, bass and guitar. His move to Texas for Air Force duty from 1977 to 1981 gave him experience in country music. His work on drums in the Outlaw Summer Band gave him a new education.
He came back to Valdosta, Ga. after his stint in the Air Force, and found duty on drums in a six piece country rock road band known as Montana.
Bruce tired of the road and earned a Bachelor's Degree in English/Journalism at Valdosta State. He embarked on what became a 25 year career in newspaper journalism.
His travels have taken him to England, Russia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Kazakstan, Krygyztan, the Canadian sub-Arctic, San Francisco,New York, Washington DC and more.
In the 1990s Billy developed a home recording studio while living in Daytona Beach where he recorded his first solo album, One Lane Bridge.
To date he has released four CDs of his own material. They include One Lane Bridge, Caxambas Pass, Future Comes Early and in 2019, After The Rain.
Billy lives in rural Hahira, Ga., where he runs a home recording studio and has a fifth album planned called Paradigm.
