Binti Afrika is a Kenyan singer, songwriter and performer known as the Queen of Swahili Dub. Her music blends soulful Swahili melodies with the deep grooves of dub reggae, creating a sound that is both powerful and unique. She began her journey in 1999 with the group Kreative Mynds and gained attention with their single "Mo Fire."
In 2016, Binti Afrika introduced her Swahili Dub sound in collaboration with Scotland's Mungo's Hi Fi. This led to her debut international tour in Oslo in 2017 and the release of her first album Sauti Inawika. Her music draws from Afro-soul and reggae influences, with lyrics that speak to resilience, identity and social justice.
Outside the studio, Binti Afrika is an active voice for women’s empowerment through the Lioness Order movement. She uses her platform to inspire and uplift, always staying true to her roots and message.
