Birthday Girl is a Sydney based guitar pop band who play music occasionally described as "dreamy," "jangly," or "bedroom" (whatever those mean...).
Centred around the songwriting of Maddie Er alongside the combined talents of band members Mitchell Ryan (The S-Bends, Green Horse), Rose Chan (Okin Osan, Fenn Is Cool), and Jarrod Ryan their debut album No Hard Feelings is due for release July 2024.
On it they weave together observational slice-of-life narratives akin to Deadstar/Caroline No, a minimalism that is reminiscent of San Francisco's DIY pop revivalists Cindy, and draws influence from the classic sounds of the Velvet Underground's third album and the smoky dreaminess of Mazzy Star.
