Born in Pittsburgh, USA and growing up in the Black Forest of southern Germany, the Hamburg based guitarist, composer, vocalist and improviser Björn Vollmer has been developing his own musical language since the early 1990s. Having connections to Mexico and Australia where tours and shows had been performed as well as in Europe and Chile, his trips and the cultural influences of the places he went to soon became a source of Inspiration for his work and compositions.
As he discovered the world of the Classical Guitar he began to combine it a few years later with the fantastic sound and art of the Flamenco Guitar, both in a collaboration of autodidactic learning and stydying with teachers and at the Music Conservatory in Trossingen, Germany and Madrid, Spain.
Back in the years after forming the band Ferocity (GER) and becoming pioneers in german "Surrealistic Death Jazz" playing shows and Festivals in the Death Metal scene, soon he was invited to play a guest solo on <a href="spotify:artist:22GSc8UsPGIP5mrM4W57rY" data-name="Necrophagist">Necrophagist</a>'s first album and joined the band two years later for european tours and shows.
The album Morphing Faces for classical guitar represents his early compositions for the instrument. You will hear the influences of Jazz as well as late romantic and contemporary influences in this work. While "Berlin" takes you to another mood, capturing the moments and images of the German capital.
