Blackbird

Sara Miguel and João Belchior have been playing together since 2012 - they started this journey as a cover duo to make money to make their dream travel to Scotland and could never stop playing together since. After 7 years playing everybody else's music, in 2019 they were ready to start co-writing their own songs. After several months working apart (João lives in mainland Portugal and Sara in portuguese mid-atlantic islands, the Azores), they got together in a creative residency in the azorean island of Pico and spent some summer weeks recording their debut as Blackbird - the five-track EP 'Becoming'. The village of Madalena welcomed them in the municipal concert hall and sponsored their residency as well as provided the technical and human resources they needed to make this EP a reality. 'Becoming' was released on all digital platforms in January 2020, mixed and mastered by João Moreira and with artwork by Filipe Gomes. As COVID-19 thashed Sara and João's plans of making the EP release on tour across Portugal in April, they are now working to make this tour a reality before the end of 2020.
