Darwin Rivera, known as BlackDarkwin, is a Uruguayan composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who inhabits a rare duality: he creates both Cinematic and Orchestral music and Commercial Pop and Electronic music with the same technical rigor and emotional intensity. Trained in piano, violin, and voice from an early age, he refined his musical language at the University School of Music and as part of the Symphonic Band and Philharmonic Orchestra of Montevideo, where he developed a solid orchestral foundation and strong sense of musical narrative.
Inspired by composers such as Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, James Horner, and Thomas Newman, he writes pieces that tell stories without words, driven by rich harmonies and immersive textures. A turning point came in 2017, when his connection with composer Mark Petrie introduced him to the Los Angeles audiovisual scene and the world of Trailer Music, leading to work on projects like American Mirror and Things That Fall, as well as campaigns for Netflix productions such as The Old Guard, The Midnight Sky, and Blue Miracle.
Today he moves between orchestral ballads and high-energy electronic tracks, collaborating with international vocalists. At the core of his work is human emotion: his music speaks of hope and transformation, seeking to be a sonic refuge where listeners can recognize themselves and remember they are not alone on their journey.
