Kelsey Warren is a NYC recording artist, producer, composer & musician who creates music under the moniker Blak Emoji. Whether producing for other artists or himself, his sonics range from electronic to pop, alternative, industrial and alt-r&b.
Blak Emoji began early 2016 when Warren performed an impromptu solo acoustic show in Budapest. After releasing several Emoji singles, his 2017 debut EP, INTRO dropped with critical acclaim from Afropunk, The Line Of Best Fit, BUST & Vampire Freaks. Singles “Velvet Ropes & Dive Bars” and “Poison To Medicine” were both licensed to ABC’s television series Quantico. This began a run of licensing to various shows on CBS, BET and MTV.
Three Blak Emoji albums were released including the electro-alternative favorite Eclectro & the electronic instrumental album Antidote. From the strength of these albums, Blak Emoji signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing via Orchard.
With his love of sound design, Warren also began scoring independent films. Tape Op Magazine featured Blak Emoji for his eclectic production skills, sound design & catchy songwriting.
Currently a member of the Recording Academy, he recently launched his new independent label, Future Vintage distributed by The Syndicate. Blak Emoji as a four piece live band, has supported Solange, Fantastic Negrito, Blk Odyssy, Dorothy and Justina Valentine to name a few artists.
