Picture you’re down in a nostalgic honky tonk bar. A country song is humbly filling the silence between the barflies murmuring – it’s probably even coming from an actual jukebox, bathed in red neon. Crying steel licks... fiddles and guitars... That’s Blake Dantier.
It seems like a pretty unlikely scene for a boy from the ‘burbs - especially one who’d never even heard Country music before he could legally drink a beer. Yet, the songs on his debut album, Dry Season, sound as if they’ve stepped out of a time machine from 90s Nashville.
4 of Blake’s self-penned singles have earned a top 50 spot on Australia’s national Country airplay chart (CountryTown Hot 50), with the highest peak at #8. He was the winner of not one, but two Tamworth Songwriters awards in 2021. He shares the wins with his fiancée and golden guitar nominee, Cass Hopetoun, with whom he wrote the #1 hit Typical Bride. He even attracted the attention of Adam Harvey, who duets with him on You Don’t Mix Whiskey.
The debut album, Dry Season, is an unapologetically Country collection of bittersweet ballads, raucous barroom anthems and everything in between. Following a March release Blake embarks on a string of shows across the country.
