Dubbed an “up-and-coming presence in Dublin and abroad” by Voyage Austin Magazine, BLAZER (Jessie Dingle, Eleanor Mancusi-Ungaro, Rory McGuinness and Aoife Haines) BLAZER's honest lyrics evoke the coming-of-age experience, and champion a story of self-empowerment and sexual liberation.
Their diverse array of musical backgrounds creates a distinctive sound echoing the styles of Kate Bush, Sinéad O’Conner, and Florence and the Machine, paving the way for the next generation of Irish women in rock. Through their unique mixture of English and Irish lyrics, they also aim to promote the use of the Irish language outside traditional Irish music.
BLAZER gained an initial following through busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street and were awarded “Featured Performer of the Year” by Dublin’s most popular open mic: The Circle Sessions. They have since moved on to headlining Whelan's main stage, and have played sold out gigs at The Soundhouse, Dublin. Most recently they have been nominated to play at Trinity College Dublin's annual ball (Trinity Ball) in April 2024.
Their debut single, Black Swan, is mixed and produced by Daniel Doherty (Fontaines D.C., Denzel Curry, Damien Dempsey) and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, The Killers, The Rolling Stones). The song deals with the frustration and confusion one feels after causing a break-up, but still being upset by the other person moving on.
