Blind Dog originates from Halmstad in the south of Sweden. Tobias Nilsson (Bass/vocals) and Joakim Thell (guitar) had been playing together in a couple of constellations and were looking for a drummer for a party gig.
Thomas Elenvik stepped in for that one gig, after which he decided to join permanently.
Blind Dog started out playing covers by <a href="spotify:artist:07XSN3sPlIlB2L2XNcTwJw" data-name="KISS">KISS</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5M52tdBnJaKSvOpJGz8mfZ" data-name="Black Sabbath">Black Sabbath</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:74oJ4qxwOZvX6oSsu1DGnw" data-name="Cream">Cream</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:776Uo845nYHJpNaStv1Ds4" data-name="Jimi Hendrix">Jimi Hendrix</a>. These sources of inspiration combined with 1990’s influences like <a href="spotify:artist:4hvwEwrCmGj22uURGVET7Q" data-name="Monster Magnet">Monster Magnet</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:1BBIIH0h76KN8gYeXFcPjR" data-name="Corrosion Of Conformity">Corrosion Of Conformity</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5xUf6j4upBrXZPg6AI4MRK" data-name="Soundgarden">Soundgarden</a>, led to a demo recording in 1996. The demo was discovered by RoadRunner Records and rendered them a place on the nowadays classic, genre defining compilation album “Burn One Up” in 1997.
The band recorded and released their debut album “The Last Adventures of Captain Dog” independently in 1999. This album was picked up by the record label MeteorCity and re-released by them the year after.
In 2002 Blind Dog was contacted by Listenable Records and a cooperation started with the band and the two labels which resulted in the sophomore album “Captain Dog Rides Again” (2003).
In July 2008, Blind Dog decided to quit.Their last songs were recorded and released for free download under the name “Captain Dog Logs Out”.
In 2020 "The Last Adventures of Captain Dog" was remastered and released on vinyl via The Lab Records. This remaster is now available on Spotify through the help of Strawtown, an indepentent label from the band's hometown of Halmstad.
