Bliss Carmxn is a songwriter, performer, a dancing soul, an all you can eat buffet.
Bliss’s music is unashamed alt-pop with electro, disco and folk/country roots. Composed on the piano, the songs are explorations of love and loss, of desire and ambition, of home and kinship. Think Perfume Genius meets Daft Punk meets Paul Simon meets Marina.
'Big Enough, 'Hey Oh Hey' and 'Hear' are the first three releases from their debut EP 'Hold My Hand And I'll Hold Yours' out in May 2024.
Bliss is classically trained in piano and has been singing in choirs since they were a child. They left music at 18, fearful of a career that might 'out' them to their friends and family. In 2017, Bliss returned, proudly queer and non-binary, with the debut single 'Alone Together' released on the Berlin-based queer label Wicked Hag. Follow up singles include 'Call Me By My Name' (2019) and 'Powder' (2020).
'Powder' premiered on BBC London Radio with the German zine Siegessäule calling it "a powdery-sweet piece of pop" and that "lyrically somewhere between queer empowerment and homage to powdered substances like sugar, drugs, makeup or vitamins the catchy electropop number convinces across the board."
