Blooming Cellar, defies categorization, blending sounds that range from lo-fi indie rock to folk electronica. The music delivers a delicate balance of melancholy and optimism, infused with a distinctly English sensibility. While often soothing, it can also be raw and unpolished, creating an authentic and compelling listening experience.
Blooming Cellar began in London in the early 1990s, with roots in Hackney and later Leytonstone, Walthamstow. The band performed at iconic London venues such as The Dublin Castle, The Falcon, The Orange, and Samuel Pepys. The name "Blooming Cellar" originates from their rehearsal space in the cellar of their Hackney house
From releasing white-label vinyl to earning airplay on Radio 1’s evening sessions curated by Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley in 1997, Blooming Cellar built a little following. They toured Europe, garnered reviews in The Organ, The Fly and Music Week (Steve Lamacq), and even performed in record stores in Avignon, France. Through it all, they continues to pursue their passion for songwriting and creating bits of art, songs and ephemera.
