A 2 track demo was released in 1997 "Mainstay of Hatred" and another demo of 3 tracks "A Cannibal's Fixation" was released in 2000. The band distributed this demo around the scene and at numerous festivals across the U.K., Europe and the U.S.A, traded and shared with bands and distros "A Cannibals Fixation" went some way to establish Bludgeon as a serious underground band that resulted in label interest that encouraged them to self-release the E.P. "Realm of Decay" in 2001. This E.P. was later picked up by Life Fluid Records, was re-mastered and re-released as a 3 way spilt album entitled "And Then There Were Three" in 2005 with Twitch of the Death Nerve and Corpse Carving.

Members would come and go until… In 2007 Chris joined Bludgeon, his technical abilities added another layer to the high speed technicality of the music and as the composition of the band as we know it today, the band started writing new material. Bludgeon have played countless shows with some big names in the genre, they have been a driving force in the U.K. underground scene for many years.

"Devoted to Lunacy" has been laboured over intensely and it is truly the outcome of dedication and commitment creating a brutally comprehensive and technical Death Metal album.
