Blue Flamingo (Ziya Ertekin) made a name for himself, deejaying old 78 r.p.m. records from the pre-vinyl-age in clubs and festivals all over Europe (from Lowlands to North Sea Jazz, Roskilde and Festival ‘d Ile de France )
With his shellac treasures, that he gathered from all over the world, Blue Flamingo compiled three well received compilation albums for Excelsior Recordings: ‘78 r.p.m.’, ‘Congo Jazz’ and A Search for C.M.S.’.
With his ‘Blue Flamingo Sound System’ he also deejays vinyl records at dance parties.
For his fourth album ‘Metropolyphonica’ from 2022, Blue Flamingo returned to his musician roots, with a set of tracks written, arranged and produced by himself. Most noticable were his collaborations with Anneke van Giersbergen, and the Zambian singer and rapper Racheal Botha.
For his most recent single 'Masker van Glas' Blue Flamingo teams up with Dutch wordsmith and LoFi music adventurer Spinvis (Erik de Jong)
