Blue Tiger is the moniker of Edinburgh-based, Peruvian-born Mario Cruzado, self described fried rice and basketball enthusiast. Though this is the first time Cruzado ventures out with solo material, he is a well-known face on the Edinburgh music scene. For many years, Cruzado fronted the sludge-rock ensemble Plastic Animals. They released a full-length album, ‘Pictures from the Blackout’, on Song By Toad Records in 2016 to critical acclaim from the likes of Gold Flake Paint, The List, Louder Than War, and more.
In this new incarnation, Cruzado brings a softer, more lucid quality to his songwriting, whilst retaining the dissonance that pervaded Plastic Animals. Careful vocal harmonies and sweet violin are offset by sparse percussion and gritty, textured guitar.
