Blue Tips

The band was originally formed in Budapest, Hungary by singer and rhythm guitarist Flóra Borszukovszky and bassist András Zsirai, then found its final name as Blue Tips when Dávid Heatlie on drums and Máté Makai on guitar joined in January 2017. With this formation they released they first EP "I Only Drink Water at Parties" and their first full album "Empire" in 2017. These two records are based on their captures of the garage, indie, surf and psychedelic rock genres of the 2000's and 2010's. The second full album "In Line", which continues their style but tends to orientate toward hard rock sounds, was released in 2018. Drummer Dávid Heatlie was replaced in 2019 by Máté Vincze. That year the band released a psychedelic hymn single called "The Year of The Ox".

The genre of the songs variates between different styles the members like. By Floras' love of 90's and 00's grunge era Blue Tips inherited vocal and lyric stylings of this era that are easily recognizable in songs like "Hurt", "F for Fake" or "Unloved". Groovy bass lines also define their love of the 00's, derived from for example the rhythmic style of Franz Ferdinand or The Strokes. "Superficial Love", "Today", "Man on the Moon" and "Guilty" represent this bit psych-sounding yet recognizable indie era influences. Many of the songs are pure psychedelic rock pieces like "W/ O U", "Better Off" and "Tomorrow". And their latest material, "Year of The Ox".
