This profound event led him to form Blvck Spvde and The Cosmos , a large collective avant-garde jazz ensemble that fuses elements of Afrobeat, rock, and everything soulful. Described by Spvde as an effort to "bring the feel of my dad back in the room and all the things I was raised around that came from him," the band brings a rich, nostalgic energy to their music.
Blvck Spvde called upon a group of young musicians who shared his surprising love of free jazz. After several years of performing on stages around the Midwest, The Cosmos are releasing their debut album in preparation for their set at one of St. Louis’ premiere festivals, Music at the Intersection. Blvck Spvde and <a href="spotify:artist:3c5J6hzTBZJVsjJ9FJoQ0V" data-name="Mello Music Group">Mello Music Group</a> have always been running in the same underground circles so it was only right to team up at the right time. What better time than now. Prior to their current collaboration, Spvde had produced for other Mello artist. Both Mello and Spvde are evolving in sound and this project is a natural fit for the current direction.
