More a song publisher than anything else, Bob Miller did write the occasional song as well, including the patriotic "There's a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere." Born in Memphis and reared in that city's melting pot of blues, jazz, and country, Miller found his way to New York after years as a pianist and arranger, becoming part of <a href="spotify:artist:32zXZpxwb2bq7oGzAhe1Ii">Irving Berlin</a>'s publishing company in 1928. Soon after, he formed his own publishing company and became a force on Tin Pan Alley until he was offered a job with the ARC label, where he began writing compositions for hillbilly artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:1hnGjQYIeEHbqWKwh10Oz6">Vernon Dalhart</a>. After World War II, Miller phased himself out of the business as an active participant and tended to his copyrights. ~ Steve Kurutz, Rovi
