Like <a href="spotify:artist:5yG7ZAZafVaAlMTeBybKAL">Iggy Azalea</a> on a King Burger budget, rapper Bon Qui Qui is the alter ego of comedian <a href="spotify:artist:5uM0Xhxwo3D632eVABcctF">Anjelah Johnson-Reyes</a>. Born and raised in San Jose, California, of Mexican and Native American descent, <a href="spotify:artist:5uM0Xhxwo3D632eVABcctF">Johnson</a> was attending college when a chance to join the Oakland Raiders' cheerleading squad, the Raiderettes, pulled her away to Los Angeles. Touring the L.A. standup circuit and uploading a video of her nail salon employee character Tammy to video-sharing sites brought her to the attention of MADtv. She joined the sketch show's cast in 2007 for a total of only four episodes, but her Bon Qui Qui and Tammy characters were a hit and in 2008 she earned an ALMA (American Latino Media Arts) award nomination for her work. A year later she would appear on the television series Ugly Betty while lending her voice to the animated film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Her standup special That's How We Do It! premiered on the Comedy Central cable network in 2010 and was released by the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Warner+Bros.%22">Warner Bros.</a> record label that same year. She became <a href="spotify:artist:5uM0Xhxwo3D632eVABcctF">Johnson-Reyes</a> a year later when she married Manwell Reyes from the Christian hip-hop trio <a href="spotify:artist:0S4zLQlUn398bugWd6Inmq">Group 1 Crew</a>. Meanwhile, Bon Qui Qui was fired from her job at the fictional King Burger chain, and turned her "skills" to rap.
