Book on Tape Worm is a chamber pop band from Provo, Utah's fertile music scene. Their sound combines cinematic arrangements with lyrical narratives to create a soundtrack for both the familiar and the fantastical. Mixing sweetness and grandeur, their songs explore the nature of time, loss, and the ghosts (both living and not) that haunt our closest relationships. Book on Tape Worm intend to take listeners somewhere: into stories that paint dark clouds, but hint at silver linings.
Known for their often extravagant live shows, Book on Tape Worm plays to a packed crowd as intimately as if they were gathered in a living room, and perform to small gatherings as powerfully as a theater show. Scott Shepard, Book on Tape Worm’s singer and lyricist, has a way of finding magic in the mundane and softness in harsh realism. Together with Catherine Williams’ enchanting vocal harmonies and piano, Ciera Walker’s steadfast cello, and Gavin Ryan's array of percussionist surprises, they weave these findings into lush arrangements.
Produced by Nate Pyfer (The Moth & The Flame, Kaskade), their newest EP “Songbirds of North America” finds Book on Tape Worm venturing out from the entirely organic terrain of their pop-up book album "All the World's a Stage" into a world where electric guitars brush up against woodwinds and whistles, string swells melt into synth layers and beauty gives way, at times, to barely controlled cacophony.
