The Richmond, Virginia trio <a href="spotify:artist:2W0FB05S1QFXtILtcn5bgT">Boom</a> was formed in 1994 by <a href="spotify:artist:7Jt7gCLG8G9rcL4IE3Vh0L">Anthony Curtis</a>, Greg LaBudde and <a href="spotify:artist:1nTmpY75JpBVkvQXD3hWrn">Pippin Barnett</a>. The band's music has a playful edge, incorporating elements of free jazz, Rock in Opposition and folk music. <a href="spotify:artist:2W0FB05S1QFXtILtcn5bgT">Boom</a> self-released its first recording, Squint. Its second release, One Hour Talisman, was released by Cuneiform in 1997.

Greg LaBudde has played in the Richmond-area bands <a href="spotify:artist:2Vflqj8sd1JLwjWRIRg4jJ">Hoi Polloi</a>, Hammersmith and Loibon.
