Booth Buys is a self-taught guitarist and singer/songwriter from Vicksburg, Mississippi. However, he didn’t discover music and the love for it as most do.
As a college athlete, Booth, 23, desired to pursue a career in sports. It was all he knew, and he had a deep love for it.
During the summer of 2016 before his freshman year of college, Booth attended a Chris Stapleton concert that inspired him to pick up a guitar. He returned home and began to learn chords and rhythms. It was merely just for fun, but the inspiration he found in guitar never ceased.
During the spring of his freshman year, he injured his shoulder which led to a surgery that put a damper on his baseball career. What seemed to be a setback at the time turned out to be one of the greatest blessings in his life. It was during that time away from baseball that he began to get serious about playing guitar and singing. He hasn’t looked back since.
Hours upon hours he spent working to become the skilled guitarist that he is in addition to writing songs that were birthed in his soul.
Writing is his way of expressing his heart in hopes that others can relate. In his debut EP, “Hopes and Dreams,” Booth writes about love, commitment, passion, and emphasizes that you can’t hide from your hopes and dreams. You have to make them happen.
Booth, a Mississippi boy from Vicksburg, enjoys playing at venues weekly as well as singing in his church and has hopes that his music will inspire everyone who listens.
