BORKA BALOGH is an Utrecht-based indie formation named after its Hungarian-born frontwoman. The band vivifies Borka’s lyrics, which are loaded with honesty and symbolism tackling personal demons to attempt knocking down all societal taboos about mental health. Hauntingly and dramatic, yet inspirational and oddly luminous, the band’s music combines Borka’s ever-lasting connection to Hungarian folk and her lyrical vulnerability with the gracefulness of indie pop. The band's sound reminds us of Björk, Daughter, London Grammar, and AURORA.
The band consists of Marieke Berkvens on keys, Moniek Roeloffs on guitar, Remy de Kok on bass, and Arthur Ermakov on drums and backing vocals.
After a self-titled debut album and two EPs (Traces Of You, Femina Bellator), Borka's project is now set out to release an EP called Disposable, an exciting record that will define the tone of their musical journey for the coming years.
