botaniste

botaniste is composed of two childhood friends : Michael Cloutier & Martin Savard.
Faithful to his introvert nature, Martin spends myriad of hours in his basement. Starting from scratch and slowly building the songs, he’s always looking for the melody that will honour his inner world, even if sometimes, it’s a bit too weird… Michael then refines the work and adds the essential sugar coating while writing the lyrics and creating all the band’s visuals. He really digs adding his own perspective to the songs, caring for the “audibility and accessibility” of the project.
 
As botaniste planted its first roots with “Glimpse”, it was an exploratory venture, kinda weird and hard to define. We gave up on trying to label the process and got comfortable with not knowing its shape and colours. 
 
Botaniste’s latest release “figure.23” is still hard to define but let’s be honest… does it really matter ? One thing is for sure, Botaniste still grows with the ups & the downs of melodies and rhythms.
 
As the past year brought many strange events in our realm, “figure.23” became the reflection of the times and depicts a universe where everything is ephemeral, fleeting, dreamlike… ever-changing. the vibes fighting against each other within the stream of uncertainties.
 
Navigating through such energy, botaniste focusses on the very essence of life by seeking for a sweet spot between two worlds : the calmness of feeling in control & the uproar of vulnerability.
