From the outskirts of Montana down to Atlanta, rapper/singer/songwriter Boy Lucca has created a soundscape adjacent to others in the scene. With a hybrid blend of melodic flows, intertwined with rhythmic delivery and distinct production, Boy Lucca has crafted a sound inspired much from Mac Miller and J. Cole. After moving to Atlanta He found work mostly as an engineer and producer, and found a tight knit family including artists F.L.O.E and Hickman L.A.
Raised in Emigrant Montana of all places, his love for music started with his father, Karl Belanger. A French Canadien immigrant, who is an active singer/songwriter/poet. Through all stages of Boy Lucca’s childhood into adulthood, the support from his parents led him on a journey that would start his career as a musician and engineer. The earliest records he obtained that started his love for Hip-Hop/Rap were “The Chronic 2001” by Dr. Dre and “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” by 50 Cent.
“The style develops from alternate hip-hop fueled by inspiration from the West Coast and East Coast soundscape.”
Having two sides to the same coin, Boy Lucca has been able to draw inspiration from all over the spectrum of Hip-Hop. While living in a place so separated from the culture, he has been pulled in many directions, ultimately settling in Atlanta; the organic chemistry was instant. Since then the music has been a steady flow, with both solo projects and collaborative works that start to become word of mouth locally.
