For the first time in three years, new music by the indie duo of Joey Distasio and Eliza Young is here: ‘comeback’ one off single “Witching Hour”, an autumnal psychedelic folk track, is out now.
Originally formed during quarantine, Boyfriend Machine continues to operate at a distance. With instrumentalist Joey Distasio recording music in Boston and vocalist Eliza Young recording their lyrical contributions in NYC, the band takes advantage of the modern day fluidity of being in a ‘rock’ band.

Their crunchy psych rock debut record “The Steady March to Death” was released in September 2020 featuring contributions from long time friends and collaborators <a href="spotify:artist:4f7XztJfBDaGyL2sib68es" data-name="Spirit Ghost">Spirit Ghost</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6ijKlcDJPuAd60BvSEzgdY" data-name="Sasha and the Valentines">Sasha and the Valentines</a>. The opening track, <a href="spotify:track:1hhwuAzAkF4MMWQwdQskQ3" data-name="One More Week">One More Week</a>, landed in the Spotify Fresh Finds playlist and Best Of Indie Rock year-end Spotify playlist for 2020.
Their follow up EP, the moodier and more intimate “The Youth Stalk the Garden at Night”, released April 9th 2021.
