Hi, I'm John Brain
Thanks a lot for listening!
I write and perform the songs for BrainySongs.
I guess the best way to describe myself is a 'musical science teacher'.
I have spent most of my life in science education, teaching the very young, right through to pre-university level.
Over the years, I have also playing in various bands ranging from trad. Celtic and other folk music groups to Delta blues and world fusion groups. I started this project with the notion that I could algamate my passion for science, nature and music.
BrainySongs are stories set to music, and are primarily written for young learners. However, many people are also saying they are great for learning English , for use as lesson breaks for older students and simply general family listening.
The songs are certainly rich in vocabulary, just as I hope the music is rich in melodic notes and phrases. I'm told by many that the BrainySongs have inspired their children, and that they enjoy singing along while learning at the same time. They have also said that BrainySongs are a lovely alternative way to absorb new topics and concepts.
Hope your young people benefit from my work.
