Baltimore native and budding R&B singer Brandon Yancey enters the music scene in his late twenties with a sound sure to disrupt the industry. Fresh off his new single “En Route,” Brandon has started the new decade ready to share music with the thousands of fans who already adore him and the many more who are sure to come. With multiple EPs planned for the coming year, Yancey looks to put out songs that are sure to make listeners connect and feel like they personally know the man behind the microphone.
With a voice comparable to R&B legend Usher, Yancey’s authentic sound is the unique blend of church and R&B influences stemming from his childhood years watching his mother and uncle lead choir at their local church. Love for music ran in the family’s blood and soon after witnessing his role models take the church stage, Brandon was writing songs and playing piano trying to drum up melodies of his own. Fueled by his passion for songwriting, he spent hours with his cousins and brothers writing lyrics and playing piano, safeguarded by the walls of his home church.
It wasn’t until years later, after spending countless hours trying to master every note on Usher’s track “You Make Me Wanna” and constantly replaying Whitney Houston until he could master strengthening his range, Brandon was ready to take his talents to the outside world.
