Brenden Lawson is a singer-songwriter living in the Virginia Beach area. In July of 2025 he released his debut solo EP, Evidence. Produced by Jacob Early in the Charlotte area, these five songs took on a life of their own in the studio. The opening track asks God, "For all the dreams that I pursue, how could I ever dream as high as You?" Drawn in by the catchy electric guitar and soulful piano, you float along with the hypnotic bass and drums.
The rest of the EP maintains the singable, dynamic sound but varies in approach. "Who I Am in You" is an uptempo jam about not letting our past define us. "Mercy Comes" is a vibey day at the beach and a call to action. "No Greater Love" is a powerful meditation on sacrifice with shimmering, layered guitars.
Another standout is "Out of My Head", a piano-driven, emotional pop song. The melody instantly grabs you but the lyrics are introspective: "I was building this bomb shelter, to shelter - from a war that never came". It's a longing to escape your own little world. To be present with those you hold dear. Brenden is the first to admit his own struggle in this area, but he hopes that songs like these can help us to be drawn into something bigger than ourselves. Then we can search for evidence of a love beyond our comprehension.
