OH GREAT, ANOTHER AGING PUNK ROCKER GONE SINGER-SONGWRITER
Conlin's story isn't unlike many others. He grew up in a smaller town, and got into skateboarding, picked up a bass guitar, and spiked his hair instead of spiking a football. It wasn't until he was a little bit older that he tried his at writing his own songs. Over time, the punk angst faded and he found himself lost without a direction.
After many years flying through bass lines for the band CRACKS, he decided to try his hand being the solo artist like all the guys he had listened to on CDs in his bedroom. "It was a crazy time for me. I was trying to find my identity as a 20-something who grew up blasting Black Flag and Bob Dylan in the same night."
It took a solo album, several bands, and a ton of persistence before coming out with his single "Good Old Days" that would breathe life back into his writing. Soon after, he formed another band to record and perform more material. The Self-Titled Brett Conlin and the Midnight Miles EP finds Conlin firing on all cylinders and culminates all the decades of his life and influenes into one work. These days, he's still working on solo material outside of fronting Midnight Miles. A re-imagined version of Good Old Days has found him shining his brightest in a decade, while his back catalog is still waiting to be dusted off and given the same treatment.
Midnight Miles is set to release an album soon, and Conlin is always chipping away at another solo effort when there's time.
