Like so many others, the year spent in pandemic-induced isolation was shaped by mixed blessings and profound changes for solo artist Brian Dewr. As the world froze, Dewr was a rising member of the San Francisco music scene, headlining with a signature indie rock sound at legendary local venues including Rickshaw Stop and Cafe du Nord, and winning the 2019 fan vote to perform at Noise Pop’s 20th Street Block Party. One year and seemingly a lifetime later, he’s returned to his home state of Michigan and placed a big bet on himself:
“I’m going to give my time to music, and only music. For the first time in my life, I won’t have to shrug and mumble my way through a two-part explanation of what I do for a living but where my true passions lie. My passion is creating, and I’ll never again have to wonder what might have happened if only I’d given myself fully to it.”
While the global shutdown has forced an end to many different chapters over the past year, after only a brief conversation, one can’t help but feel that the story of Brian Dewr is only just beginning.
Dewr’s latest release “Hi/Lo” is available on all streaming platforms. For upcoming shows, merchandise, and other news visit www.dewrmusic.com
