Brian Eyre

Brian Eyre is a Modern Fingerstyle guitar player and composer. Although he played guitar most of his life, he came to Fingerstyle fairly late. He started off as an electric lead player in bands doing mainly original material, where he contributed as song writer, sometimes singer and arranger as well as lead guitar player.   As life happens, it was in the business world where he started working with a collogue who he heard was also a guitar player.

Recalling the discussion: “I asked him what kind of material he played and he said ‘Fingerstyle’.  To be honest, up until that point I had never even heard the term. So I asked him, ‘you mean like, fingerpicking?’.  He laughed and said ‘kind of’”.

From that point on he has been on a musical journey to explore the breadth of what “kind of” means: precision, harmonics, slapping, hammer on, etc... After years of writing and honing his abilities at “kind of”, comes the release his debut Modern Fingerstyle Guitar record called Study Of Hands. Highly influenced by the likes of Andy McKee, Don Ross, Trevor Gordon Hall and Antoine Dufour, to name a few, his musical style is both melodic and rhythmic along with a few good twists and turns in harmony for good measure.
