Bridges is currently one of NZ music's best kept secrets, with the quickly up and coming female fronted indie-pop band already bringing over 100 attendees to their headline EP release show in December 2023. The 4 -piece live band is high energy, weaving introspective songwriting with walls of guitars, massive drums, and hook-laden melodies. Think early Lorde, mixed with UK band Daughter.
After opening for Aussie breakthrough act Teenage Dads in 2023 at Auckland's Tuning Fork, Bridges released their debut EP, which was met with acclaim. Tracks from the EP have been A-Rotate playlisted on Radio Burgerfuel, Radio One, The Most FM and more, with NZOA-funded singles ‘Pills’ and ‘Misfits’ quickly gaining traction. ‘Pills’ has been playlisted on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds Pop’ (200k), ‘The Local List Aotearoa’ (18k) and ‘Fresh Finds AU & NZ’ (18k), as well as Apple Music playlists ‘New Music Daily’, ‘Breaking Pop’ and ‘New In Pop’.
Bridges is the artist project of Christchurch-born, Auckland based songwriter Rachel Hamilton (she/her), with the live band consisting of Rāwiri Waters (he/him) on drums (Kāti Māmoe, Ngāi Tahu), Bray Jeffrey (they/them) on keys and guitar, and Sam Nash (he/him) on bass.
Get ready for more to come; with a penchant for meaningful and clever songwriting, Bridges is without question a rising talent, who deserves your full attention.
