BrownSugar

BrownSugar is a Southeast London bred production that have established themselves as an anomaly amongst the modern day R&B scene.

In early 2016 singer/songwriter Stefan Mahendra and drummer Iain McFarlane crossed paths while studying at the British Irish Institute of Music. Their mutual love of Motown soul and funk, set the tone for the inception of BrownSugar. Not soon after they acquired the dexterous guitar player, Myles Peters and polished bassist, Keshav Kanabar. It was clear from that moment on they would continue to push the boundary of a non conventional sound that was in a league of their own.

For these four musicians their pursuit lies in shaping rhythmically refined timeless music. Amongst their diverse palette of influences, they pride their sound on formulating songs that make you want to get down on the dance floor. Whether it’s performing their own show at an intimate Sofar Sounds or a local venue, they are relentlessly pursuing sharing their original music with fans.

Their newest release for 2020, “Part of A Different World” leads the way for an emerging creative process to flourish. With plenty of original numbers in the works, BrownSugar will continue to forge their own path and cultivate music for their sound.
