Formed in Bali in 2024, brrr blends melancholic songwriting with indie-driven instrumentals to create a sound that feels both challenging and comforting. The band is made up of Bonnie (vocals, songwriting), Riansyah (guitar), Aweng (guitar), and Geralson (bass).
Riansyah, Aweng, and Geralson first began playing together in 2019, before crossing paths with Bonnie in 2024, a meeting that sparked the beginning of brrr’s journey. Inspired by a shared love for the raw winter stillness amidst a tropical landscape, their music evokes a gritty and introspective atmosphere in an effort to carve out a space that feels true to themselves.
Lyrically, brrr explores themes of human experience, vulnerability, and emotional honesty, giving their songs a personal and relatable depth. Bonnie draws from the lyrical intimacy of Boygenius and Pinegrove, while Riansyah [Coconightman] Aweng [The Munchies] and Geralson channel the honest attitude of The Strokes, the timeless, dreamy feeling of Radiohead and the expressive energy of Two Door Cinema Club.
Their debut single “stasis” introduces the world to this unique sound, leading up to the release of their first EP, inspire/expire, coming in early 2026.
