Italian-Mexican singer/songwriter and producer Bu Cuaron is gearing up to release her debut EP, Drop by When You Drop Dead, in Spring 2024 via AWAL. A culmination of her lifelong passion for music, the six-track project is a captivating fusion of electronic indie pop, hip-hop, and acoustic elements, featuring lyrics in English, Spanish, and Italian. Bu’s music defies conventional structures, as evidenced by the EP which features songs with ever-evolving structures, ranging from the dynamic “Come for Me” to “Sweet Face,” marked by its rapid-fire lyrics and ukulele accompaniment.
Born to renowned filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón, Bu’s creative journey began early, mastering the piano at four and later exploring the violin and guitar. By the age of 13, she was producing her own music using GarageBand. The forthcoming EP marks her first music project since the release of 2019’s “Psycho,” which NPR said exhibited “wisdom and feelings well beyond her age.” The song was featured on the album Music Inspired by the Film Roma, a collection of songs inspired by her father’s Oscar-nominated movie, ROMA.
