Buffalino was founded by Peter King, Nick Hanson, Cory Becker and Vinnie Rotondaro in 2002 at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. Peter King, founding member of Indianapolis and Bloomington, IN based @The Impossible Shapes, and Nick Hanson had previously played together in both The Dirty Mugs and party rockers, Pity da Fool, at Wooster. Becker and Rotondaro provided the new, solid rhythm section, and the roots of Buffalino were formed. Russ Fink, (occasionally of @Doug Gillard), took over bass duties briefly and recorded bass on the band's debut album, The Thunder Cracks Above.
