Despite <a href="spotify:album:0PcJe29dvjkxU9pA0OdJNs" data-name="Echo Land">Echo Land</a> being <a href="spotify:artist:0H9m4fLilSwbSXAE01AlKT" data-name="Bùmarang">Bùmarang</a>’s debut, there is a clarity, confidence and focus that reveal the Montreal-based “Celtic power trio’s” (The Guardian, PEI) storied past. Together with their Scots Gaelic name, literally meaning boomerang, and the album title, they allude to a reflection, a return and a resolution to find answers in the past.

<a href="spotify:artist:4Goe26LiMjH9z6XLUaxQfM" data-name="David Gossage">David Gossage</a> (flute, whistle, guitar), <a href="spotify:artist:2jU3A9sAoz4jlTXLkbfxwQ" data-name="Kate Bevan-Baker">Kate Bevan-Baker</a> (violins, vocals) and <a href="spotify:artist:045JYB2I42fQLnNRJQSvdN" data-name="Sarah Pagé">Sarah Pagé</a> (harp, vocals) have individually performed in their own ensembles including <a href="spotify:artist:66G5QhSUQqE5ddahxWN8NA" data-name="Orealis">Orealis</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0AqNnIMxi4Trpc1XvII4Fk" data-name="Tree Talk">Tree Talk</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4OyRutd80DZC22C4pl63l7" data-name="The Barr Brothers">The Barr Brothers</a> and toured with <a href="spotify:artist:7bPs6jf983f0bjRAt1yxDM" data-name="Patrick Watson">Patrick Watson</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:52ue4x5xVjLx4cw2HEXMhi" data-name="Hey Rosetta!">Hey Rosetta!</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2s0438sn0pYL2OuukcFqPN" data-name="Kid Koala">Kid Koala</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1GxkXlMwML1oSg5eLPiAz3" data-name="Michael Bublé">Michael Bublé</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3IbqRfvnvj5C22pHD38KXI" data-name="Lhasa De Sela">Lhasa De Sela</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0iF2gedsSjoVHRUh5vXSdu" data-name="Cirque du Soleil">Cirque du Soleil</a>.

The three virtuosic players combine influences of classical, jazz, African and Indian music together with a love and appreciation for Celtic folk songs, resulting in a unique and innovative take on what was once old.

After an initial string of bad luck: broken instruments, frozen cars and an incomplete recording session, they brought in Vid Cousins to co-produce and mix, and accompanying instrumentation from percussionist Ivan Bamford (<a href="spotify:artist:46FCeck1Py53n0YXC8RuxF" data-name="Land Of Kush">Land Of Kush</a>), drummer Kevin Laing (<a href="spotify:artist:2hMif9QK1Knz7gD5XIUsER" data-name="The Besnard Lakes">The Besnard Lakes</a>) and <a href="spotify:artist:3jzXlBF2157k4exx7idecs" data-name="Leif Vollebekk">Leif Vollebekk</a>.

The result flies us over the realms of Celtic music, travelling the ages and back again. Bùmarang share loves, and bring us out of mists of uncertainty to a clarity of our place within this time. They succeed in making new what is old, and they nourish our souls with their entirely modern celebration of tradition.
